Morning!!!

So… not much to tell….

We are heading into the low season which means its time to start concentrating on other things.

Crystal is having a refurbishment (hooray!!), and is starting with a new equipment room which will be double the size of the old one…

After the equipment room, the plan is to knock down the old reception and build new offices… we shall see…!

A couple of days ago there was a fund raiser at the Trapeze company for the Koh Tao Rescue crew. These guys are medics that will come to any accident (basically its our 999). They run purely on donations and the evening raised over £3000 for them.

Strangely enough, Jenny had to call them that morning, while she was cycling. She witnessed a bike crash and 1 of the guys broke a bone in their shoulder. The Rescue guys were there in a flash..

I have been working solidly on a new website for Eco. Jenny has been working with a eco student who was only here for a few days. Today, she went to the Save Koh Tao office to help out a Dutch couple she met, who are building a structure to put down at BioRock next week.

She had a go at welding… and even though sometimes was frustrated with it, she enjoyed it a lot.

Thats it… In a few days we are heading to Kuala Lumpur for a visa run, and staying for 3 days… I have booked a day of River Tubing, so it should be fun!

Cor Blimey!!

Where does the time go….!

So, everyday has been long days conducting videography courses and then straight on to Self Reliant Courses. Adrienn and Istvan (Both from Hungary), had a great time, and are planning their future career change. They were certainly not pleased to be heading home…

I managed to get one day off, and I spent that with my 3rd attempt at baking bread. This time I managed to figure out what I had got wrong on the first 2 attempts. It seems I have been using too much flour and because of this, the bread has been very dense.  Anyway… it worked out very well, with me topping it off with some Pita Bread and some Naan Bread to go with the Curry Pie I also made.

Beside all the culinary delights I have been knocking up… and the 14 hour days I have been working… well Jenny is still going Eco crazy, doing stuff most days, beach cleans, clam measurements, etc.

I was going to write this blog yesterday, but as soon as I woke up I was sick, and for the rest of the day I could barely move from the bed. Today, I am feeling much better, just very weak… must have been a bug…

All good on the island of Koh Tao.

As Simon mentioned, I’ve been busy with ECO and he’s busy with video students but we have both been over to Samui again for a friend, Kiwi’s 50th Birthday..    It was lovely travelling with a big crowd.  Simon and I only stayed a couple of nights, everyone else stayed longer.

The first evening we were there,  I think it was a group of around 12 of us went out for a lovely dinner at ‘The Godfather’ an Italian restaurant owned by a friend of a friend.  The meal was delicious and we ordered far too much food.

The next day we all went out to breakfast to the ‘Jungle Club’  It’s high up in the mountain and this is just a little bit of the view ..

Then with our bellies full, we headed straight to the Go Karting. An intense afternoon with 10 people racing around like loonies. In one of the races Simon was span out by Heath on a bend. I came around the bend to see Simon at a full stop in front of me, and managed to brake, skid and turn before slamming sideways into him…

The final race, I was rammed into the barriers so hard by someone that 2 staff had to spend time lifting the barriers so that the kart could be removed. I thought that this had lost me my position, but it turned out that I did my fastest lap and I managed to come 2nd! Simon also got rammed into the barriers after a cheeky battle…. and was stuck there for 2 laps….

Everyone had such a good time that they can’t wait to go back…. however I am not sure how pleased the Go Karting staff would be about that!!

And so it was time to head back to the hotel for “Walking Street” Every Friday outside of the hotel, they set up stands with food and goods for sale. However, we barely moved since we were having so much fun talking and doing card tricks. Simon and I eventually went to bed about 2:30am.. with some of the others staying up until 8:30am!!!
Waking up the next morning, we caught the ferry back to Koh Tao and left the others to their extreme hangovers! Since then its been 5:30am starts for Simon every single day (finishing a videography course), and his day ends at about 8:30pm….. tiring stuff.
