Day 204 – Koh Tao

Today, while Jen was resting with a slight cold, I went hunting for Whaleshark.

Yesterday, a whaleshark was spotted at Chumphon Pinnacle. Unfortunately, Jen and I had a few drinks last night, and getting up at 6am… I couldn’t even open a pack of cornflakes!!!

Anyway, camera prepped and dive kit ready.. I hit the boat to Chumphon, and…… NO WHALESHARK!!! Hey ho…

2 dives, no problems… and I went off the beach in the afternoon to Junkyard. There I came across the biggest Barracuda I have ever seen.. 2m long, it was a beast of a fish… Absolutely stunning..

So no Whaleshark, but the Barracuda was awesome.

After that, I nipped to the pool with Jen and Nick… and kicked his butt!

Oh, and forgot to post this piccie of the scorpion in our bed the day before yesterday… yuck!

Day 201 – Koh Tao

Everyone met in the bar area at Crystal around midday.  It was slightly chaotic as a couple of other dive schools turned up who were going to join us on the boat.  I think we had around 45 people and the max capacity the boat could take was 46.
Todays clean up was Sairee beach. We split into groups of 4 & 5, equipped with baskets and cutting inplements and our dive was limitted to an hour.

My group, Alan, Heidi and Teresa had a lovely dive, spotting blue spotted rays, baby sweetlips, schools of baraccuda and a yellow margin trigger fish.

We only collected a couple of bags of rubbish compiling of screws, nets, fishing lines and some rusty ole tins.

Back on the boat, we found that most of the groups had only found a basket or two as well which was pleasing.

On dry land we washed and packed our kit away and then returned home for a snooze.
