We hope all is well with everyone!

We’ve been keeping ourselves busy. In the last week, we’ve been actually been out diving together for a change. Only to our artificial dive site Junkyard to do some coral transplants, take photos for social media, a little bit of cleaning. So that was refreshing.
This week we had a day’s work for the DMCR (department of marine coastal resources) We were assessing divers for them so that they can go out and locate, transplant coral fragments to certain types of structures. I can’t say it was fun as everything with the DMCR runs overtime, is last minute and very confusing at times but it was certainly something different and we got paid, which we were not expecting, which was good.

I have managed to capture something VERY rare ..Simon in scuba gear with a smile on his face 😀

My handsome Simone!!
Banana Rock!
Did a Microplastic survey there with some volunteers
We’ve had some beautiful sunsets recently

I have a very easy time in comparison to Simon. He’s had a nightmare of a time. Fixing laptops that have crashed, trying to salvage years of data lost, dive equipment failing, dive computers dying, the list goes on. I really don’t get it sometimes he’s always helping others but when things go wrong, it just pours.

Apart from that we are very much in love but missing everyone 😀

Love and hugs

So this little fella was found on one of dive clean ups! I thought he was so sweet I took him home and and gave him some TLC

After quite a few baths, scrubs and a little bit of a repair, he’s nearly as good as new. He seems to be settling in well and Cuthbert has taken him under his wing LOL

Apart from Rescuing cute teddy’s I’ve been doing the usual Sunday clean ups, gardening, collecting drift wood to make plant pots, I’ve baked bread, chocolate brownies and shall crack this afternoon with a hot air balloon jigsaw that I’ve been given.

My driftwood plant pot. Looks much better than the old plastic pot.

My first lot of Chocolate brownies. A little dry for me but Simon loves them. You’re supposed to cook them for 20 max, but I got distracted and left them in the oven for a couple of minutes too long DOH!!!

Sunday clean ups target bays that are in need of help. Most of this trash has washed in as this time of year, monsoon, tides, current bring a lot of debris in.

We collected just under 50 bags of trash that day!

Today would have been Mum & Dads Wedding Anniversary!

I miss them very much!! I hope Simon and I have as many happy years together as they did ;-D

On another note, this morning I got up early and left Simon in bed with a cup of tea to go and join a clean up which I do most Sundays.

I usually cycle to the meeting point and then hop on someone’s bike to get to the more remote locations. Attempting to meet at some of the bays, would just be silly. I’d be absolutely shattered to begin with and probably wouldn’t have the energy to make it home LOL. It’s the heat that’s a killer.

The group goes to various places around the island cleaning up coastal area’s which are unfortunately are full of trash (plastic bottles, polystyrene, flipflps, lighters, fishing gear) which has made it’s way here by way of current or weather. We usually target the more unexplored areas where trash has accumulated over quite a lengthy period of time. Saying that, we did 4 clean ups at one bay, recovering over 100 or so large bin bags and I popped back to collect some driftwood and it didn’t look as though we’d touched it with the amount of debris that had since washed in. Very sad indeed.

So, we want to wish everyone a….

Love and Hugs,

Jenny & Si

XOXOXOX
