So the owners of Crystal Dive announced that they were going to close Crystal ‘for the foreseeable future’ due to a lack of business which we inevitable. The island has been dead. So saying that, we thought we had at least a week to gather belongings and vacate the facilities but due to a change in circumstances, we had a last minute message to say that we had just 24 hrs to get out, locks were being changed. So with a last minute panic, we only had a couple of options. Our spare room and a friends downstairs area. Not really ideal but we had no choice. So we called on a friend with a motorbike with sidecar (Salang) who was willing to help out. We are SO thankful!

I think being caught off guard and having to drop everything and pack up, we’ve both been emotional, drained and tired. Thankfully another alternative solution came into play which we opted for, so we are now sharing space with another dive school, Master Divers which is also based in Maehaad. I know things always happen for a reason, but I would never have thought after all these years that we’ve been at Crystal that it would come to an abrupt end like this. Thank goodness we are ECO KOH TAO

So today was a day of sorting, we’ve still got a few boxes to empty and to rearrange a few bits and pieces but we’re feeling less stressed, we just have to worry about the speedboat now, as, when and if we have to move/moor it. Everything else is all good.

Tonight is our first night home, semi relaxed, watered and fed ;-D
